Privacy Policy

This website is deliberately built to collect as little data as possible: no cookies, no analytics, no tracking. The only external resource is the OpenStreetMap base map for the interactive world map (see below). The mobile app follows the same principle — your location never leaves your device.

Server log files

When you open this website, our hosting provider automatically stores technical access data that your browser transmits: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page visited, and information about your browser and operating system. This data is processed only to deliver the site securely and reliably and to protect against attacks. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website). The data is not merged with other data and is deleted after a short retention period.

Hosting (Cloudflare)

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, provided by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Cloudflare processes the server log data described above on our behalf. We have concluded a data processing agreement with Cloudflare. Where data is transferred to the USA, it is safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure an adequate level of data protection.

Fonts

All fonts are hosted locally on our own server and delivered directly from it. No connection to Google Fonts or any other third party is established, and no data (such as your IP address) is transmitted to any font provider.

Cookies, tracking & analytics

This website uses no cookies, no tracking pixels and no analytics tools. A single technical entry may be stored in your browser’s local storage to remember your chosen language — this stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Interactive map (OpenStreetMap)

On larger screens the start page shows an interactive world map. Its base map tiles are loaded from the servers of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom). When tiles are loaded, your IP address is technically transmitted to these servers. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in an appealing presentation of our worldwide coverage). The United Kingdom holds an EU adequacy decision. No coordinates or personal data beyond this technical request are transmitted; the glowing points themselves are pre-rendered images from our own server.

The app and your location

The Tellis app determines whether you are at a study space entirely on your device. Your GPS coordinates are never transmitted to, stored on, or logged by our servers. The server only ever learns the result of an on-device check (for example, “checked in at library X”), never your position.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing of your personal data, the right to object to processing, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
